IMPORTANT ART INFO QUALITY AND SCARCITY Elliott's Art is exqusitely perfected and ipso facto rare. Elliott has always been an Artist, with decades of dazzling innovation behind him. Many of his images take hundreds of hours of work to create. He doesn't employ assistants. Consistency of excellence however, is unsurpassed. Some pieces are sold out or difficult to get. Key thing to understand about the heavyweight Photographic Art is that Elliott stopped creating it late Eighties. And there isn't much of it. About 200 pieces in tiny editions. It gave way to the Cyber Art of the early Nineties. Elliott only uses photography today for the erotic art. ELLIOTT ORIGINALS The artist creates ORIGINALS and they usually vary a little or a lot in size, shade, colour, paper, process, etc. The term 'originals' is borrowed from painting and sculpture where less than 12 examples are called 'originals' (not multiples). There are no proofs. No alternative editions. No 'open editions'. Experienced collectors seek out, but rarely expect to find, Colour Photography and Cyber Art printed by the Artist. Elliott has created every single original himself. No assistants. No printers. ONE-OFFS + NUMBER OF ORIGINALS Elliott pioneered unique one-offs and low editions, late Sixties. The average number released from an image is about 3. Maximum historically is ten, although only around 20 art photos were ever released as such. All of the Cyber art has a maximum of 8. Vast majority are lower than the maximum. Minimum remains one. PROCESSES Elliott printed his masterpieces with Cibachrome Deluxe up until the mid Nineties and subsequently used giclée. The Cibas are all vintage and printed decades ago, which of course, gives an additional rarity factor. Few photographers printed their own colour in the 20th Century, but Elliott did. The giclées are created on high end printers, using the highest quality materials with archival pigment inks. Elliott is a world class master printer. |
